One bite at a time
Desmond Tutu once wisely said “there is only one way to eat an elephant: a bite at a time.” And here at MA Group we know what he means! MA Group has expanded significantly this year and so we are dealing with the elephant task of recruitment, systems development, training and integration one bite at a time. We have also had to deal with some large, stone elephants in a recent claim where MA Group had to deal with a large, complicated high net worth claim that involved many stakeholders, a swimming pool, sewage and an imminent wedding!
Supplier of Q3 2019
MA Assist’s Supplier of the third quarter of 2019 was Leewood Construction.
Leewood are reliable, very engaged and never say no when MA Assist need some help. They have had some excellent feedback on High Net Worth jobs due to their proactive approach – if they hit a problem they look for a solution and get on with things. Congratulations to Danny and his team.
In second place is React Fast UK. It’s all in the name and they are always willing to go the extra mile, sometimes literally.
In third place is MFS NW who have been star performers all year for us, achieving 5 star status.
Surveyor of Q3 2019
Virtus‘s surveyor of the third quarter is Simon Henry.
Simon was the winner of Surveyor of the Year 2018 and he has continued to deliver right across this year. Simon is always quick to visit new claims and consistently ensures that reports are uploaded from site, meaning claims can be processed and finalised quickly.
The Virtus claims team continually provide positive feedback around the quality of his reports and also his great attitude.
Well done and once again many thanks to Simon.
MA Group MAD Awards
Ben Mawby from MA Assist was the MADest person in MA Group in September.
He has been seconded to Revival to help their transition to the group operating system, Pulse. Revival North London have been particularly appreciative of Ben’s help in explaining the nuances of Pulse and helping them progress their claims through the system. They have praised Ben for his patience and say it’s been miraculous and a huge benefit to them.
Ben receives a £25 gift card and will be entered into the MAD Award of the Year.
Saving the elephants
MA Group‘s Integrated Property Claim Proposition was tested to the full by elephants recently.
MA Assist and Revival worked together to restore and reinstate a garden and converted garage that had been flooded with sewage. Not only was it a complicated job (the customer had a swimming pool featuring two stone elephants, a very heavy fountain, palm trees, thatched garden buildings, sheds full of contents, ruined decking and contaminated soil and slabs) but there was limited access to the working area through a narrow single gateway and the remedial works would all have to be done within a restricted space.
There were many parties involved including a swimming pool technician, gardeners, garden building specialist, a soil testing laboratory, electricians and a water company.
As if that wasn’t enough, the customer was hosting her brother’s wedding in just 8 weeks’ time, so needed it all back to normal by then.
Incredibly the works were completed on time, and the wedding celebrations were unaffected, much to everyone’s relief. The customer was delighted, and so was the insurer client.

MA Group is growing fast and so we have recruited more new staff.
In NHCC we have a new Operations Manager, Nikki Coleby. Reporting to James Bush she is responsible for the operational and adminstrative side of the business. She has a lot of experience in the property sector and has already hit the ground running.
We have also welcomed new staff to the Control Centre – Phillippa Gutierrez, has already passed her probation and four more staff are on board and in training.
Also, we are looking to fill a newly created role – Head of Group Operations. The Head of Group Operations will be responsible for coordinating, managing and directing operations across the group to ensure that businesses meet their financial, quality and customer service targets. This is a challenging role ideal for someone with good operational experience and excellent communication skills. They will report to the Group COO, Jorge Gonzalo, and will be based in Aylesbury.
