The sun shone again!
The MA Group 2017 Charity Golf Day and dinner was another great success this year – and the sun shone for us again. This year we had 22 teams playing golf and 130 clients, suppliers and staff at the evening dinner and awards.
We are thrilled to announce that we raised over £10,000 for the Oxford Young Adult Clinic, the charity that has helped Laura Hayman and her family over the difficult last six months. The photo on the left shows Paul in his hospital bed just before he went to theatre, with a large cheque for £10,000.
Thank you to everyone who came and supported us on the day – a huge thank you for all the generous donations made both on the day and beforehand by those who couldn’t attend. We really do appreciate it and we know it will make a real difference to this small charity.
As always the day started with everyone buying their Mulligan balloons, much needed help for many of the golfers!
The winner of the longest drive was none other than Paul Hayman. And nearest the pin winner was Andy Warren. Thank you to SOS Leak Detection for sponsoring the holes for these events.
We played the Stableford points systems and the overall winning team with the best score was Ryan Direct Group, closely followed by the EDM team who were just one point behind.
This year there should have been an award for the most shocking golf trousers – we may introduce that next year!
Tricky Rob showed off his amazing Trick Shots before dinner on the first tee.
He amazed the audience with his incredible ability to perfectly hit a golf ball from any positon – on top of a ladder, bouncing off paving slabs, from 4 foot high tees and while bouncing on a trampoline. He never missed and would slice the ball, fade it, hit it high or low at will.
Thank you to all of the good sports who took part in the Show. We have uploaded a couple of videos of the show to the MA Assist Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/MAAssist/ so if you would like to see some of Rob’s fantastic show please take a look.
Our annual golf day is about having some fun and raising money for charity, but it is also about recognising and rewarding our best suppliers. So Stephen Pomfret presented trophies to our Suppliers of 2016 with a bit of help, and a lot of banter, from Aaron James:
Supplier of the Year 2016 is KNK Building Services Ltd and Steve Wall was there to receive the award. Newcomers of the Year 2016 were Willis Construction and Frank Rogers – Craig Thomas and Mike Diggins from Willis and Mark Wink and Joe Flanagan from Frank Rogers were there to accept their awards. Specialist Supplier of the Year went to Brad Wilby and Nik Day from SOS Leak Detection.
Raffle and auction
We held a raffle during dinner where fantastic prizes such as a Hayman’s gin hamper, malt whiskey and a crazy golf set (!) were won. But the auction was the highlight, and really demonstrated how incredibly generous many of our clients and suppliers are.
People bidded for tickets to see Adele or Elton John, a trip to a London theatre with dinner at Gordon Ramsay’s Savoy Grill, 4 ball at the Oxfordshire and two stunning paintings by Liz Armstrong who specialises in dressage, flat racing, national hunt racing, polo and other equine art.
We have uploaded some photos from the day to the MA Assist Facebook page so Click Here if you would like to view them online.
On 8th June Paul and Laura’s transplant operations took place as planned. We are pleased to report that everything went well and they have now started on the road to recovery. The transplanted kidney is working well and the doctors are very pleased with the results. We wish them all the best and hope to see them back at work in a few weeks.
This paper looks at the developments that have taken place in the MA Group to address the issues that we raised in our three part series about schedules and scoping. Read more
